The thing about Odium is that he's supposed to be an unforgiving and vindictive person who has a hard time trusting certain people (or ponies), and even actively wants to hurt them at times for their misdeeds and wrongdoings, especially if those wrongdoings are extremely severe and/or they receive no consequences or show little to no remorse. This was used to show one of the fanfiction's main themes that action have consequences and that consequences are everything.He was also used as a reflection and contrast to one of the series' main themes besides friendship: Forgiveness. Another goal is to make him a consequence of the Mane Six, Starlight, and Discord's own reckless and/or immoral actions in the past that the fans and critics have hated throughout the series. He then journeyed alone in his mission to put them in their place before realizing how wrong he was.One of the goals for Odium is making him one of the few characters that the fans and critics want to see get redeemed, yet still be punished in the end. After being old enough to live on his own and leaving his honorable family and disreputable town behind, he stumbled into a mysterious seer named Calypso, who trained and planned with him for years in order to take down the Mane Six, Starlight, and Discord after showing him all of their misdeeds, crimes, and faults throughout the series. He is also the first antagonist to think that the Mane Six and their friends are evil and is out for justice after seeing all of the worst misdeeds and faults they made without any repercussions at all.He was once a young, well-meaning, and helpful pup with a burning and unforgiving hatred for injustice of any kind due to living in a disreputable town with his honorable and caring, yet flawed and somewhat poor family.
Instead, it was about justice, honor, and forgiveness.Odium, as both a character and antagonist, isn't supposed to be a stepping stone for the Mane Six and their friends' growth and development, since they've already perfectly developed as characters throughout the series and achieved self-actualization, but his own worst enemy that he needs to learn and grow from in order to be a better person compared to what he was before and during the time he was tricked by the seer. He was also made to be the first antagonist in the series who had a problem that had nothing to do with friendship, and thus, couldn't be solved by the vague notion of friendship. He serves as a challenge to the show's idealism.His ability concept is more into martial arts rather than either magic like most of the other characters or technology like Sid. In fact, he's supposed to be written as realistic as possible.
He also has his own genuinely funny, cute, and awkward moments.Odium is an slim, anthropomorphic, bipedal, grey wolf with a white underside and dark-gray tips on both his ears and long, spiky tail. He also is willing to show other emotions and tends to wear his heart on his sleeve despite that. He wants him to be serious, determined, introverted, and scarred, but never to the point of always being broody, angry, misunderstood, or crazy.

He also has a light-blue stripe around the bottom of his shirt, sleeves, and pant-legs. He also wears beige, shorts held by a gray, light-golden-buckled belt and has a light-blue, smaller, rounder feather on the front of each pant-leg as opposed to the longer, sharper feathers on his older design's pants. He's also about the same height as the Mane Six, if not shorter.He wears a light-brown, long-sleeved, collared shirt with golden buttons on it and light-gray Borromean Rings on the front and on each elbow. He also has a shorter snout, smaller, dark-gray nose, and rounder teeth and claws, as well as light-pink skin on the inside of his ears.

He strongly believed in standing up for those who have been wronged or who can’t stand up for themselves, while at the same time, punishing those who deserve it, even at the cost of his own well-being.However, due to his upbringing, he became very stubborn, headstrong, and intolerant, especially towards his and others’ beliefs and mistakes, to the point of becoming irrational, short-tempered, aggressive, antagonistic, violent, hateful, hostile, somewhat brutal, and overly-critical when he thinks that others are threatening his values or doing something extremely immoral, including himself, making him have a very clear-cut, black-and-white mindset towards morality.Additionally, it’s shown that due to his past living environment, Odium can be very gullible and easily misled towards his loved ones, the innocent, and those who need his help, which is one of the reasons why he was tricked by Calypso for years in the first place. Despite that, he held very high values in helping others and stopping injustice due to his parents’ teachings.As he got older and was less sheltered, though, he gradually became much braver, determined, complex, more passionate and somewhat serious when it came to his values. Overall, his younger appearance is more naïve, innocent, and adorable compared to his older appearance's more serious, hostile and aggressive design.During his youth, Odium was a more quiet, gentle, private, curious, and highly sensitive pup with very poor social skills and high insecurities due to being somewhat sheltered by his parents and his impoverished and disreputable lifestyle. Odium's younger color palette is brighter than his older one which uses darker tones for the most part.
He always puts others before himself and shows very little regard for his own well-being to the point of foolishness and even suicide. Odium can be genuinely selfless, empathetic, mostly courageous, self-sacrificing, loyal, and honest, even during his more antagonistic moments. He just has deeply-ingrained trust issues and little understanding of interpersonal relations or the subtle tools of manipulation because of his past experiences and social isolation.But, in spite of his flaws, he isn't without his virtues. He’s also very strategic and intelligent when it comes to things like combat and writing.
He’s also willing to save them while still going against them.Although his drive is helping others and stopping injustice, he loves to travel and see the world by himself due to both secretly not wanting to base his entire life on heroics and to see what life is like outside of his old, horrible hometown. He’s also very merciful and hesitant whenever they’re afraid of him and refuses to kill them. Also, while he does hate his enemies, he’s very considerate and thoughtful towards those they personally care about. He hates excuses from either himself or others when it comes to misdeeds and doesn't like getting off scot-free for his and/or others' crimes.
